## Summary

The MountVacation MCP server build story, and one of the first open-source MCP servers for tourism.

## Overview

I’ve been deep in the world of AI coding agents and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers lately. For those unfamiliar, MCP is basically a standardized way to give AI assistants access to external data sources and tools. It’s like giving your AI a direct phone line to specific databases and services instead of forcing it to guess or make things up. So there I was, frustrated with vacation planning, when the lightbulb went off: What if I could just tell Claude, “Find me a ski-in/ski-out apartment in the French Alps with parking and a sauna for two people under €2000” and actually get real results with booking links? That’s how the MountVacation MCP was born.
